31 percent of those who are cleared for military service this summer, are women. The people born in 1997, who are now called up, will be the first to enter military service through the gender neutral conscription.
Recent figures from the Armed Forces personnel and military center reveals that about 31 percent among the nearly 7,000 youngsters who are eligible for military service after the second session are girls, NRK reported.
This means that the proportion of women probably will be far higher than the current 16 percent when the youngsters start their military service this summer.
– We will see a significant increase from 2015, says project for military service in the Defence, Per Thomas Bo.
