During three hours of speed checks two patrols from the Mobile Police (UP), fined over 76 drivers in Hordaland.

Many of those who were taken were people on their way home after spending the weekend at their cottages.

Police have not calculated the total amount of money paid in fines at Sunday’s speed chech in Etne, but estimates an average price of 3,000 kroner per fine, according to TV2 News.

That means the two squads “made” well over 200,000 kroner.

– It was a very lucrative evening. But our goal is not to fleece people for money – we want to bring down the number of drivers exceeding the speed limit and in that way increase traffic safety.

People who want to save money should be aware that the UP-squads are spending a lot of time on the roads these days,  leader of operations in  South Western Police District, Rune Plassen, says.
