Innovation Norway has named Kristiansand Zoo for this year’s travel destination, ahead of High and Low Activity Park and Basecamp Spitsbergen.

Travel Award is presented each year to companies which could successfully demonstrate their capability to build successful and innovative tourism products. The price is NOK 250,000.

– Travel award is a great recognition of the work we have put in over many years. This award has a high value and we had wonderful strong competitors. For us this is a very big day, says Reidar Fuglestad in zoo.

The zoo is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Today there are 140 animal species in the park, and the park has become a familiar destination for many in Norway.

– Kristiansand Zoo has for several years shown that they think new and innovative. Their commitment to the development of southern Norway as a tourist destination and a willingness to share its success story is an example to follow, says Cathrine Pia Lund, director of Norway brand in Innovation Norway.
