RIO DE JANEIRO, BRASIL: Veronica Kristiansen got her big Olympic revenge. She went from tears to wild cheers of more than two days when the handball girls beat Spain 27-24 Monday.

Thus, the double title defender well on its way back on the track Norway is accustomed.

Kristiansen played an unrivaled driving game against the Spanish team with a number of targets and energetic play in both directions.

In the opening match against Brazil, she had a difficult day with six injuries at seven trials and trouble in defense as the rest of the team. Afterwards she admitted that she was crying two to three times during the evening.

From midway through the 2nd half they came straight toward victory. 16-15 lead became 21-17 after fresh counterattacking move of Norway.

It became a Rio-afternoon where some Norwegian pieces fell into place:
Defense Game was clearly better than the one played against Brazil.

Goalkeeper Kari Aalvik Grimsbø also lifted their game somewhat but not to impressive heights. Yet there is something going on.
