Eight days of competitions, 12 events, 20 new world champions, 135,000 happy spectators and endless cheers. It’s with sadness we have to face the fact that the Biathlon World Championships in Holmenkollen are over.
We’re looking back on some amazing days in winter capital Oslo, and Championships characterized by excitement, solidarity and outstanding sports achievements.
–It’s been amazing to compete in front of one’s home crowd. It’s been like living in a dream,” says Tiril Eckhoff.
It’s the third time Holmenkollen has hosted the Biathlon World Championships, and crowds have never been bigger in Holmenkollen since the Olympic Games in 1952. Fans from all over the world have thronged to the stands, and the celebrations they have taken part in and the sound of the Holmenkollen roar is something they’re not likely to forget. Oleksandr and Andriy from Ukraine are very happy they chose to visit Oslo.
