Third place to King Harald in the World Cup for 8 meter racing yachts

King Harald and the crew at “Sira” finished third in their class when the World Championships for 8 meter sailing were held on Lake Constance on Saturday.

 

It was in the silver class of classical boats produced before 1968.The king’s boat ended a point behind German, Eckhard Kaller in Wyvern.Finnish Harri Roschier in “Luna” won the Sira Cup, the trophy that was established by King Olav during the World Cup at Hankø in 1983.

Roschier finished 30th after nine other yachts, while Kaller got 37 and King Harald 38. Before the last race, the king was in silver, but Kaller was best in class last season.

The World Cup concluded with 5th place to King Harald and the crew,Einar Koefoed, Bjørn Pedersen, Kjell Inge Heiberg, Hans Jørgen Baulk,Sveinung Torgersen, and Kjell Arne Myrann.

Werner Deuring from Austria in “Conquistador”, who sailed in the modern class,won the World Cup overall in front of Swiss Jean Fabre in “Yquem II”.
