There have been record visits to the islands in the Oslofjord this summer. Now the year’s visit rate will soon have exceeded one million.

Already by next week, Ruter can detect approximately one million passengers on the island boats going to Nakholmen, Hovedøya, Langøyene and Gressholmen, wrote Dagsavisen newspaper.

By July 29th, 908,468 people had taken the trip to the summer islands by boat according to Ruter. 814,489 of them had travelled during the summer months of May, June and July.

“Oslo-Fergene is an operator, and the crew have made a lot of effort with many extra departures,” said press officer Cathrine Myhren of Router to the newspaper.

Ever since the island boats moved from Vippetangen to Aker Brygge three years ago, the number of visitors has risen. The most popular island (measured by the number of departures and arrivals) is Hovedøya. This year, the crazy summer weather has ensured a new record.
