The hot summer has led to record numbers making use of the ferries that leave Aker Brygge for the islands of Oslofjorden.

“We see that our boat service is very weather dependent and now in this nice weather there are record visits,” said Sofie Bruun, press officer in Ruter, to Dagsavisen newspaper.

Ruter have a summer plan for the island boats, and operator,Oslofergen, can put in a spare boat for long queues on the dock (something they have also had to do in the summer heat).

In May,according to the newspaper, there were a total of 220,365 travellers, while on only the first weekend in Jun, there were close to 20,000 departures a day.

Bruun also has some tips for warm, tired and impatient travellers who end up in queues:

‘’Try to keep your mood as good as possible, get enough fluid on these hot days, and be sure to protect yourself from the sun.’’
