Time for big city tour – doubling to New York

The Norwegian krone has strengthened sharply in recent months and this has had an impact on people’s desire to travel. Norway’s biggest holiday organizer, Winger, increased sales on their site by 10 percent in October.

“It is quite obvious that the exchange rate has affected desire to travel,” says CIO Elisabeth Larsen Vonstett in Winger. From having had a decrease in the metropolitan sales of between 15 and 20 percent this summer, the holiday organizer increased sales of city travel by ten percent in October compared with the same period last year.
“Progress is particularly evident in London and New York. The demand for travel here has strengthened considerably over the past three weeks.

We are seeing a doubling in sales to New York this fall, compared to last autumn. There will probably be Christmas presents to both Oxford Street and Fifth Avenue under many Norwegian Christmas trees this year,” thinks Larsen-Vonstett.
