“If a serious event occurs in the country you travel to, we can send information to travelers by sms or email,” said Thomas Stangeby, Deputy Director of the Consular Affairs Section, and head of the Department of Foreign Affairs Operational Center.
Most recently under the forest fires in Greece, UD sent out information by SMS to Norwegian citizens who had registered their stay at reisegistrering.no. The information provided on the website is automatically deleted 30 days after the end of the trip.
