Avinor and Securitas sharpened the routines at Harstad / Narvik Airport in Evenes after a woman was asked to remove her hijab in security control.
According to Vesterålen Online, the woman filed a complaint to Avinor after she was askedon two occasions to take off the hijab in full public view at the airport security checkpoint.
In the complaint,it appears that the woman herself understands that security personnel want to check under the hijab. What she reacted to is that it is done in public and not in a private room. She experienced the events as harassment and breach of her personal rights.
“For others, my choice may seem to be that covering my hair is very unnecessary and meaningless, for me,it’s part of my beliefs. It has as big a role as someone
else’s covering clothes like pants and shirts.Therefore, I respond in the way every person would have reacted if they had been forced to take off their trousers or shirt
in public’’ the woman wrote in the complaint according to Vesterålen Online.
Airport Manager,Anne Britt Bakken,at Harstad / Narvik Airport Evenes apologised for the incident and reports to the site that they have regretted the complaint directly to the woman.
One who has little understanding of the woman’s experience at the airport is former Justice Minister, Per-Willy Amundsen of Fremskrittsparti (Frp). He thinks the complaint from Bakken is incomprehensible. On his Facebook page, the politician was clear about what he thinks about the matter.
‘’Muslims must adapt to Norway.The security staff at Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes just do their job. If this Muslim feels harassed, she may gladly go home to her country of origin and live her “freedom” there wrote Amundsen.

@Amundsen, What will be advice for Norwegian ethnic woman if she is Muslim and don’t want to remove Hijab publicly? Where should she go then? Also is this advice only for Muslims women or for Jewish women also who used to cover whole body in three layers of hijab including head?
