This year’s award of the Anders Jahre Culture Prize will honor individuals who have made an effort to communicate and take care of the dramatic life and history of Norwegian seafarers .

In all, there will be this year  four awards given in the anniversary year for Anders Jahre Humanitarian Foundation.
A collective award goes to the  foundation of enthusiasts behind the museum ship Hestmanden, while authors Guri Hjeltnes and Jon Michelet and actor Helge Jordal were  also honored.
DS Hestmanden was built in 1911 and was a part of the convoy in both the first and second world war, and was a part of the coastal trade in Norway for a lifetime. It is the only surviving ship from the Nortraship fleet.
The ship is protected by Cultural Heritage, and 2 million from the fund has been earmarked for the planned restoration of the ship’s aft lounge.
The other prize winners have also throughout long period of time made an effort to promote the story of Norwegian sailors and, not least, the war sailors.
