Crown Princess Mette-Marit rounded off Literature Day 2018 in Stavanger, celebrating with a reading session together with writer Zeshan Shakar and Oslo Mayor Marianne Borgen.

With “Relationships” as a theme, the Crown Princess was invited to book talks on her literary journey from Kristiansand to Stavanger.

“It’s no big deal what you read, but just that you’re reading,” said Mette-Marit.
On Friday she met the author Shakar at the Sølvberget kulturhus. He debuted last year with “Tante Ulrikkes vei” about two boys who grow up at Stovner in Oslo. The book was met with brilliant reviews and Tarjei Vesaas’ debutant prize.

Oslo chairman, Marianne Borgen, who himself grew up in Groruddalen in Oslo, discussed with Shakar the subjects of belonging and upbringing.

“Our home means a lot to us. But it also means a lot, how others look at our home,” said Crown Princess Mette-Marit as she started the conversation between the two.
