After the peak year in 2013, there are ever fewer people who choose to marry in the Norwegian Church abroad.

In 2013, over 1,000 couples married in the Norwegian sailor’s churches around the world. However, the number has since declined. Last year, 616 marriages were registered, reports Dagen.

In 2017 there were 686 who entered into marriages at the sailor’s churches.

“The most marriages at the Norwegian sailor’s church was in Gran Canaria with 95, and then follow Mallorca and Copenhagen with 79 and 67 marriages, respectively,” says Communications Manager Sissel Myklebust Mæland from the Norwegian Sailor’s Church abroad.

She has no good explanation for the decline, writes the newspaper Dagen.
