Stein Erik Hagen’s artwork, “Tree of Ténéré”, will light up the new park that is coming to Filipstad in Oslo.

The 14-meter-high artwork by Alexander Green was purchased by Stein Erik Hagen in 2017.

The tree is Hagen’s gift to Oslo, and Oslo Havn have entered into a contract with Hagen’s company, Canica AS, for a five-year period.

The source of inspiration for the artwork is a solitary tree that once grew in the middle of the Sahara desert, in the Ténéré region. The
tree served as a focal point and resting place for travellers through the desert.

The artwork has 125,000 programmable LED lamps and creates colourful dancing lights that are controlled by computer.

The new Tretten park on the west side of the activity hall, Skur 13, will be filled with sports and games and rooms for recreation. The park
has six targets and is made by Oslo Havn in anticipation of future urban development at Filipstad.
