Culture Minister Trine Skei Grande (V) went to the Øyafestivalen as a volunteer and got assigned as a bartender in the beer tent.

The Minister of Culture was one of the 2,700 volunteers who make the festival possible. Wednesday was the opening day of the festival which is the 20th time it is held in Oslo.

The news that the festival will be part of the US acquisition fund Providence Equity Partners through the investment company Superstruct was also revealed yesterday. It is believed that the new ownership will not affect how the festival will continue to operate. The original founders of the festival will also continue as co-owners.

“I am confident that the festival’s board and management will make the necessary strategic decisions to ensure the future national and international position of the festival once they have entered into a partnership with Superstruct.”

I am looking forward to this year’s festival and look forward to the festival progressing in the years ahead, writes Grande in an email to Dagens Næringsliv Wednesday afternoon.
