Royal couple receives concert as a gift

On Monday evening, the king attended a free concert outside Oscarshall at Bygdøy in Oslo.The concert was a gold wedding anniversary gift and open to all.

 

The concert took place outside the castle near the Frognerkilen and there was blue sky and sun during the show.

The Armed Forces Staff Music Corps, Norway’s largest professional wind band invited the royals to the free concert as a gift in celebration of the popular royal couple’s gold wedding anniversary.

Large parts of the concert program were taken from the corps’s new recording, “Three Kings”,which features music from major events under

Norway’s three kings since 1905. The royal couple was also given the CD.

The program featured the king’s own wedding band, which was written by the Norwegian composer,Reidar Thommessen, and was performed for the first time during the wedding dinner at the castle in 1968.
