The Movember moustache

Byas pays a visit to Brødrene Fevangs (the Fevang Brothers’) barbershop near the Colour street in Stavanger for a few tips regarding the moustache campaign Movember 2018.

– People should join Movember because it’s nice, but at the same time we want to prevent men from dying too early, says Kjetil Fevang, Manager of Fevang Brothers.

Marking

Movember has been held every November since its inception in Australia in 2003.

The campaign is about to start the month smooth-shaven, but grow a moustache through November to focus on men’s health.

You can create a profile and start a collection for your moustache on Movember’s Web page. Since 2003, the campaign has raised more than NOK 5.5 billion worldwide. The Fevang Brothers’ Barbershop in Stavanger has been a supporter every year and always experience an increased demand for their services before November.

– The communication we have with men from all layers of society has taught us a lot and changed us as persons. Naturally, we want to be supporters, says Fevang.

During Movember, the barbershop will host several events, including mini-concerts and a day dedicated to moustache tattoos. The barber shop has even entered into a partnership with Kverneland Bil Volvo on Forus for its own Movember car.

– It gets bigger than ever before! Fevang exclaims.

About the Movember action

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends face a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent.

That’s why we’re taking action

We’re the only foundation tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. We’re addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

We know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. We’re independent of government funding, so we can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works. In 15 years we’ve funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.

By 2030 we’ll reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%

Help us stop men dying too young. Join the movement.

Our strategy is all about going where men need us most

We know what works for men. We’re transforming the way research into men’s health is done, and the way health services reach and support men.

We don’t take government funding, so we can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works.
