More math teachers at Oslo and Akershus University College (HiOA) believes math test for teacher training was advanced. This include the population of 75 percent of students.
Vibeke Bjarnøy, program coordinator, primary and teacher education at HiOA, said to NRK news that they assess both the difficulty and scope which was more complicated than what was usually given at the secondary examination.
The government has tightened grade requirement in mathematics to get into teacher education.
From this fall must have a minimum grade four on math from high school to start learning study. Applicants who do not meet the requirement for a quad, but who had a minimum grade three, were selected to take the free preparatory courses to qualify.
Only 118 out of 485 teaching students pre courses are consisted of mathematics, according to the Ministry of Education.
Bjarnøy wish now that the Directorate will appoint a commission to see whether the requirements were too stringent.
– I hope that someone is researching this, so we are completely sure that no one is unfairly treated, said student counselor.
Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen said to the communities who are responsible that they must have a discussion to see if there is anything to be adjusted or changed next year.
– But the requirement for getting into program is not going to be touched, said the minister.
