For 100 years, Student home for young girls offered flats to female students. Their 100th anniversary is celebrated on August 20th with Princess Astrid and Oslo Mayor Marianne Borgen.

The foundation Study Home for young girls was founded by Norway’s first female professor, Kristine Bonnevie. The operation started on the 20th of August 1916, and theStudent home has been in the same house at St. Hanshaugen in Oslo since the first year.

Pike home should provide a safe environment for women who moved to the capital at a time when there were still few female students. It was once a full boarding house, with a chef, maids, caretakers and managers.

Today study home consists of ordinary studio flats, where residents have to clean themselves and make their own food. Unlike 100 years ago, they now allow  male guests.
