Apple is recalling one of the most common chargers for tablet computers and Mac after the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority believes the chargers are prone to electrical failure.
Apple has chosen to withdraw chargers for Mac and certain iOS devices, including tablets and offers customers new charger, said Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (Nkom) in a press release.
– Nkom is pleased that Apple is taking precautions and recalling the gear to prevent potentially dangerous situations. We encourage anyone who has the appropriate charger, to follow Apple’s instructions and get the charger switched, says senior engineer Paul-Erling Lia.
Nkom opened a super- vision case against Apple in April 2015 after they had uncovered several incidents of broken chargers.
Both Nkom and the company considered this to be a serious matter because the chargers are also in use in schools. The incidents included a child who got an electric shock.
