If a nuclear accident occurs, the health authorities recommend
several groups of people to have iodine tablets available. Few
have followed the advice show sales figures at pharmacies.

The health authorities recommend that all persons under the age of 40, pregnant and breastfeeding women have the tablets available if a nuclear accident occurs. It is to reduce the risk of thyroid cancer in the event of a nuclear accident.

Nevertheless, sales figures from pharmacies show that few have followed the advice and obtained the tablets.

Since the iodine tablet, Jodix, became available in Norway in early November last year, close to 50,000 packs have been sold.
