In a recent survey  four out of ten Norwegians  have revealed that they want to reduce their meat consumption in the coming years. The number surprises the food industry.

In the survey, conducted by Infact on behalf of Future in Our Hands (FIOH), as many as 41.2 percent of respondents said that they “want to reduce my meat consumption in the coming years for the sake my own health, animal welfare and the environment “, Dagbladet writes.
42.5 percent said they are not willing to eat less meat.
– The number of people who want to cut down on meat in their diet is sensationally high, and it is encouraging that so many have become aware that reducing meat consumption is one of the easiest things to  do to lessen the environmental impact, the leader of FIOH  Arild Hermstad said.
Åse Kringlebotn, information officer in  Nortura, one of the largest players in the Norwegian food industry, is surprised by the high figures. Meanwhile, she says that the company is well underway with a green shift, and that they are prepared for Norwegians eating less meat in the future.
