110 year old Petra Høgetveit from Brumunddal was Norway’s oldest person, died Saturday.

Her son Sveinung Høgetveit (86) has confirmed the news to VG.

Petra was born on April 3, 1910, and grew up with four siblings and parents at Stange. Her 110th birthday was celebrated with cake and flags.

– “On her 110th birthday we had to improvise because of the Coronavirus situation. She had to sit inside the nursing home, but we met up with 20-25 family members and sang with flags and banners. She smiled from the other side of the window. Inside the home was a cake,” said her son.

Petra Høgetveit took over the title as Norway’s oldest in February.
