A professor of forensic medicine at the University of Oslo warns of the dangers of covering strollers. – It may cause the baby to not get enough air, he says.

– Overheating is one of the biggest risk factors for SIDS. By adding something close upper structure of a stroller a child can develop what is known as hyperthermia, in other words an elevated body temperature, said Professor Torleiv Ole Rognum to Aftenposten.

SIDS is caused by insufficient air in the baby and happens rarely, he informed. He believes it is necessary to explain this, because there is not anyone who is conscious of it.

Solveig Ude, a nurse at the health center Alna in Oslo, said health centers are not good at informing parents about the danger of hanging blankets in front of carriage openings.

– Maybe we should put up some posters around the country’s health centers about this. It’s about informing parents’, I think. People are so keen that they should not get sunlight in, but the babies need to get air in, she said.
