During November, there has been 1100 more unemployed in this country, according to seasonally adjusted figures from Nav.

At the end of November, there were 78,200 registered unemployed with Nav. This is a decrease of 1,000 compared with last November. Unemployment is at 2.8 percent, down from 2.9 percent in November last year.

Overall 98,500 people were registered as either unemployed or job seekers who participate in measures. That’s 2700 more than a year ago, and is equivalent to 3.6 percent of the workforce, compared with 3.5 percent last year.

– After several months of decline in unemployment we have seen an increase over the past two months. Much of this is due to fewer job seekers participating in measures and therefore there are more unemployed, said Labor and Welfare Director Sigrun Vågeng.

Adjusted for seasonal variations, Troms and Hordaland had the largest increase in unemployment in November, but Finnmark and Akershus had the largest decline.

SSB’s unemployment rates are based on LFS – Labour Force Survey – reflecting how many people see themselves as unemployed.

SSB figures of 4.8 percent, are higher than the Nav unemployment because many people who are genuinely unemployed, do not register with Nav.

This is especially true for people who are new on the job and who are not entitled to unemployment benefits.
