23 reception centers across the country closed down

UDI closed down 3,800 places in reception centers because fewer asylum seekers are coming to Norway.

Tuesday UDI announced the list of the reception centers that will be affected.

Directorate of Immigration (UDI) reported in August that 7,000 seats at just over 50 refugee centers should be closed with effect from December / January. Now a further 3,800 seats has been laid down.

– This is mainly ordinary reception centers, but also a few hundred seats in regular transit. This touches unfortunately reception staff, local authorities and residents, states Director Christine Wilberg.

Of the receipts that are now laid down, 610 seats are at the receptions Gjovik, Veum Alleen, Moss state reception and Vestre Toten state reception in the region Inner East.

In the Central 600 seats dissappear at Steinkjer reception, Molde reception center, Stjørdal reception center and Aalesund reception center, while in the Northern Region 631 seats are shut down at Skillevollen Rana reception, Tromso reception center, Mosjoen state reception and Lødingen.

580 places will be closed in Tønsberg, Horten, Notodden, and Kvinesdal state reception, 200 places disappear by Skedsmo i region East and by the Radøytunet reception center, Sola, Sandnes, and Årdal reception 700 places are laid down.

In addition, emphasis transit centers Haslemoen and Starum will shut down, and then 560 seats will disappear. Reception centers have either three or four months’ notice and will thus have a contract until January / February 2017.

At the end of last week there lived 19,400 asylum seekers in Norwegian reception. There are now 11,000 fewer than at the previous year’s end.
