The duty that motorists have to pay when travelling between Kristiansand and Trondheim can come to 3.700 kroner in total when E39 is to be without ferries. The cost may scare motorists aways, a traffic researcher thinks.
The amount of duty you have to add in order to achieve the level of self-financing required seems unrealistic, researcher Harald Minken at the Institute of Transport Economics says to NRK news.
He believes there won’t be enough funding, unless the state is willing to contribute more money. Today the costs for travelling this distance by ferry is at 840 NOK.
Preliminary estimates show that the price could be in excess of 1,000 NOK from Bergen to Stavanger and Ålesund, but also that the amount of time you have to spend on the journey will be halved.
The Minister of Transport Ketil Solvik-Olsen has not wanted to make any comments on the issue to the channel.
