4,000 Norwegian payment cards to be destroyed because of fraud

Payment Processor Nets asks Norwegian customers to replace a total of around 4,000 credit card that may have been the victim of fraud during online shopping.

All the relevant bank cards are used in the same foreign currency at the same time, informs Nets in NRK news.

The company will not disclose the store in question, but suspect that large amounts of card information has ended up in the wrong hands.

It is not certain that all information is misused. Communication Manager Stein-Arne Tjore from Nets says the recommendation is “a preventive work to avoid and prevent more abuse”.

– We have recommended a replacement of approximately 4,000 Norwegian cards, he says.

“Due to some ongoing investigation we unfortunately cannot say anything about the shop in question or where it originated,” writes Nets in an email.
In Denmark, up to 100,000 cards blocked, reports the Danish TV2 news.

It is the biggest card fraud in Denmark ever.
