A record number of women are investing in shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange

The number of women investing in shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange rose to a record high of 137,000 last year, figures from AksjeNorge show. 

A total of 22,000 more women are now saving in shares compared to a year ago, P4 writes. The increase amounts to 19%.

“More and more women are saving for the long-term, and that is very positive,” general manager of AksjeNorge Kristin Skaug told the channel.

Several campaigns aimed at women and savings in shares in 2020 drove up the number, Skaug believes.

“At the same time, social media and social contexts have become more open to discussions on savings and finances,” she said.

Number of shareholders

At the same time, the number of shareholders on the Oslo Stock Exchange increased by 23.6%, or almost 92,000 new shareholders, according to a report from AksjeNorge. 

And while the proportion of women increased by 19%, at the same time, 26% more men invested in shares.

Furthermore, women increased their values ​​by 16%, while men increased their values ​​by 27%, the report shows.
