According to new figures from Finn.no, there were 12,979 homes for sale in Norway between 17 May and 7 June. This is 19 percent more than the same time last year.
Just in Oslo, 2,643 homes have been listed on the market since the 17th of May, which is 12.5 percent higher than the same time last year, writes E24. However, this growth is modest compared to Trondheim and Bergen, according to the CEO of Eiendom Norge, Christian Dreyer.
– “Demand has taken away quite a few homes, but not all. We see that the number of unsold homes has risen steadily from Easter. This means that home buyers have more to choose from,” he says.
Several analysts had predicted in advance that more homes would be put on the market later this year after a hard and cold winter. However, the increase is somewhat earlier than expected.
– “I think this is in line with our forecasts, if anything, then the increase will be earlier than expected. We have long been expecting an increase in homes being put on the market from autumn, and we are no less convinced of this now,” says economist Nejra Macic at the Forecast Center for E24.
In May, she predicted that the housing offer could be the strongest since 1981, indicating that a total of 36,500 homes were commissioned in 2016.
