A delegation of Dutch oil rig employees demonstrated on Friday outside the Norwegian company, Borr Drilling’s, offices in Oslo.

The reason is that Borr Drilling bought up the Dutch company,Paragon Offshore, earlier this year and had later announced major changes.

“The new owner, Borr Drilling, wants to close down the former Paragon Offshore office in Beverwijk, Netherlands, which poses a threat to the jobs of more than 70 employees at the office or on the rigs,” wrote Nautilus, a Dutch organization that organises Dutch naval officers.

The delegation, representatives from both Paragon Offshore and Nautilus, also submitted a petition to chairman, Tor Olav Trøim,and board member, Fredrik Halvorsen (who was not present).

‘’70 employees, both from the offices and the rigs, have signed and they are afraid for their jobs. They are fighting for their jobs and against ‘social dumping’’’, said union leader, Sascha Meijer of Nautilus to NTB news.

On Monday they will talk to their members to find out what will be done further in the future.

“We have some thoughts about how to keep up the pressure,” she said.

NTB news has unsuccessfully attempted to get in touch with Borr Drilling for a comment on the matter.
