Dutch workers accuse the Norwegian company Borr Drilling for social dumping and notify that they will demonstrate outside the Oslo office.

The union Nautilus, which support Dutch naval officers, announces that a delegation of workers will travel to Oslo to demonstrate this Friday. They also want to hand over a signed petition to chairman Tor Olav Trøim and board member Fredrik Halvorsen.

The reasoning is that Borr Drilling acquired the Dutch company Paragon Offshore earlier this year and later announced major changes.

“The new owner, Borr Drilling, wants to close down the former office of Paragon Offshore in Beverwijk, Netherlands, which poses a threat to job losses to more than 70 employees in the office or on the rigs,” the trade union writes.

“We have been in discussions with Borr since May, and our efforts have been about avoiding layoffs. If terminations can not be avoided, what it now seems to be, the goal is to secure termination packages that must at least be at the level common in the Netherlands,” said Bert Klein in Nautilus.

The union shows that Borr Drilling has vacancy information on its websites, while employees in the Netherlands risk losing their jobs.

“This is strange since Borr management claims that there is no jobs for Paragon employees anymore. It seems like social dumping,” Klein says.

The workers have also demonstrated earlier this summer against the Norwegian owner in the Netherlands. NTB has unsuccessfully attempted to get in touch with Borr Drilling for comments on the matter.
