Seasonally adjusted numbers from Nav show that the number of registered unemployed decreased by 1,300 people from July to August.

‘’Fresh Nav numbers show fewer vacancies in August. The main picture is that we have had stable unemployment through the summer of 2018,” said Minister of Labour and Social Affairs,Anniken Hauglie.

Unemployment rates fell in August after a clear increase in July.Gross unemployment, which also includes jobseekers who participate in measures from Nav, decreased by 2,400 people this month.

The number of new jobseekers is also at a low level. In August, there were 760 people who registered as a job seeker at Nav every working day. With the exception of the last couple of months, this is the lowest number since the financial crisis.

By the end of August, 67,000 were completely unemployed at Nav, which is lower than it was a year ago. The decline is 6,800 persons compared with August last year. Unemployment has thus fallen from 2.7% of the labour force to 2.4%.

Nordea Markets reported on its web pages that the decline in unemployment will hardly affect the rate of return Norges Bank has announced in September.
