John Fredriksen’s company, North Atlantic Drilling, has sued Statoil and is taking them to court after disagreements over payment for the staffing of two rigs where the company is contracted.

The parties are in disagreement over who will benefit from there being only seven catering employees per shift on each of the two offshore rigs, when there should be ten, reported Stavanger Aftenblad newspaper.

The disputed case comes up before Stavanger District Court in March next year.

‘North Atlantic Drilling Limited can confirm that in June, we sent a subpoena to Stavanger District Court regarding Statoil Petroleum. The summons is relating to a dispute over unsettled accounts for services to the tenancy rigs, West Elara and West Epsilon’, said CEO, Alf Ragnar Løvdal.

Statoil would not comment on the case so long as it is still unresolved by the courts.
