Labour’s deputy leaderTrond Giske accuses Prime Minister Erna Solberg of concealing the Government’s eagerness to give huge tax cuts to rich people.
In an interview with the newspaper VG Giske comments on signals from several of the key figures in the Conservative party in recent days that tax cuts do not have precedence over all other political initiatives.
– Now when we are nearing an election, and the Conservatives are trying to talk around what the budgets reveals to be the main priority of the Conservatives : Major tax cuts. They have so far given over NOK 18 billion in tax cuts. That’s more than what they have used for the strengthening of transport and more than twice as much as to the strengthening of hospitals, Giske said.
The Labor deputy leader pointed out that half of the tax cuts so far have gone to the richest people in Norway. He believes that the Conservative leadership are trying to hide their real agenda because they know it’s unpopular.
– They try to conceal their real big commitment., Giske said.
Prime Minister Erna Solberg will not make any comments on the issue. Instead, Municipal Minister Jan Tore Sanner is the one who hits back hard on the Conservative`s behalf: – This is the most stupid thing I ever heard. I think most voters perceive that the Conservatives are clear on what we think about taxes, he said.
