The Right / Progress Party (FRP) government is likely to require 37 billion in tolls during this parliamentary term. Total collection has increased after the FRP took over the Ministry of Transport.
Asked by the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap), the Finance Department has raised the toll level in recent years, writes Dagbladet.
In 2014, 9.20 billion was collected in tolls, while in 2015, the total was increased to 9.58 billion. The figures for 2016 are not clear, but the government has allocated 100 million for the toll cut.
You put the 2015 level because it involves a collection of 9.48 billion.
‘The figures confirm that FRP once again encounter themselves at the door. In the election campaign of 2013, they guaranteed a 0 per cent increase of tolls under an FRP government, yet now it turns out that Ketil Solvik-Olsen is the Transport Minister that has required the highest tolls in history’, said fiscal spokesperson in Ap, Marianne Marthinsen.
Transport Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen Strikes Back:
‘Rather than support FRP in our struggle to lower tolls, like peas in a pod, Marianne Marthinsen informs motorists that she and Ap are unable to stop our proposed toll cut’, he said.
In the budget proposal, the Government aims for toll cuts of 500 million in 2017.
