An increasing number of Norwegians believe unemployment will increase significantly, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted by Opinion for FINN jobs, shows that the proportion of pessimists among Norwegian workers has increased significantly over the last 12 months. One out of five Norwegians now thinks that unemployment will increase significantly during 2016.
In 2014  only four percent believed unemployment would increase significantly over the next year, while in 2015 was eight percent thought the same. This year’s survey shows that pessimism has increased significantly, with 20 percent expecting a significant increase in  the unemployment rate.
– There are fewer vacant positions compared with the same period last year, while there are also more Norwegians who have to find their bearings in the labor market. This suggests anxiety among employees, job analyst and product management in FINN job, Fredrik Schjold, says.
The oldest employees are the ones who are most pessimistic. 85 percent of the respondents aged 50-60 years think unemployment will increase during 2016, while 57 percent of the youngest respondents aged 15 to 25 years think that the rate of unemployment will increase.
