Increase in employment

There were 17 000 more employed persons from May to August, adjusted for seasonal variations. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 per cent in August.

 

According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the seasonally-adjusted number of employed persons increased by 17 000 persons from May (average of April-June) to August (average of July-September). This change is within the LFS margin of error, but in accordance with an increasing trend. During the last year, the number of employed persons has increased by 56 000. A large part of the increase is made up of men over 25 years.

Stable unemployment
The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 per cent in August (average of July-September), which is an increase of 0.2 percentage points from May (average of April-June). This change is within the LFS margin of error. The labour force, which is the sum of employed and unemployed persons, increased by 23 000 persons from May to August.

The number of people registered as unemployed or on government employment initiatives with the Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) was unchanged from May (average of April–June) to August (average of July–September).
