Kjos dismisses new runway at Oslo Airport

Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kjos believes there will not be a need for a third runway at the airport if an airline passenger tax is maintained.

The air passenger duty will stifle demand, he says to newspaper Finansavisen.
– We have already seen the consequences at Rygge. The marginal routes disappear, and then it is not profitable to build a third runway, said Kjos.

CEO Dag Falk-Petersen Avinor disagrees with the initiative, although he agrees that the fee is unfortunate for Norway’s competitiveness.
– For us there has never been any doubt, a third runway should be built regardless of if the air passenger duty is maintained or not, he says.

LOL! Why not just shut down Gardermoen then, and the demand will soon disappear. Now wouldn’t that philosophy improve Norway’s business climate?
