The shipyard Simek AS in Flekkefjord got a contract to build a trawler for a New Zealand shipping company. The contract is worth about 400 million NOK.

The agreement on the construction of the 82.9-meter hurdles trawler is made with the company Sealord Group Ltd., writes newspaper Agder.

– This company is a new acquaintance for Simek and we look forward to a good cooperation with shipping companies and equipment suppliers. Simek is very happy to get this contract against strong competition from shipyards in Norway and abroad, says sales manager Gunnar Nordbø in Simek to the newspaper.

The company is among the largest fishing boat shipping companies in New Zealand.

The hull will be built at the sections produced in Poland before they are transported to Flekkefjord in summer 2017. The assembly will start in the fall and work will continue until spring 2018.

The ship is designed for ship design firm Skipsteknisk AS in Ålesund in cooperation with the owner and Simek.
