Nearly 14,000 kroner separates the municipality which is the cheapest and the municipality that is most expensive in municipal taxes. The fees have increased by 2.5 percent in 2016.

The annual survey by Statistics Norway was done for House Owners Association and shows that Norwegian homeowners pay on average 12.780 kroner in municipal taxes, according to newspaper VG.

The investigation includes charges for water, sewer, garbage collection and sweeping and assumes a standard dwelling of 120 square meters.

The municipality that takes the highest fees is Høylandet in Nord-Trondelag with 19.953 kroner, while residents of Årdal in Sogn og Fjordane have it cheapest, with a total bill of 6058 kroner.

The list of most expensive municipalities include Dovre, Tysfjord, Nesseby and Søndre Land, while Trondheim, Volda, Stavanger, Sandnes and Sandefjord are among the cheapest.

Earlier this summer a similar survey by Norwegian Family Economy showed that Gjemnes Nordmøre was the most expensive municipality, while Sola was the cheapest. This study also revealed great differences.
