By 2017 there were 6,400 more disabled people in Norway. The number now approaches 340,000 and accounts for 9.8 percent of the population, Statistics Norway (Statistics Norway) reports.

The increase from the previous year is 0.1 percent in the age group of 18 to 67 years.

By 2017, 4.9 percent of immigrants aged 18-67 years were disabled. Immigrants from the EU / EEA area are less often disabled than immigrants from Asia and Africa

The disability rate among immigrants from Asia and Africa is 11.7 percent adjusted for age and sex. However, among immigrants from the EU / EEA, which has mostly come as labor immigrants, the percentage is 3.9.

For immigrants from Asia and Africa, the disability rate is on par with the population otherwise in the age group 45 to 54 years, around 12 percent, while the proportions are significantly higher in older age groups. A total of 26.1 percent of immigrants from Asia and Africa between the ages of 55 and 61 are disabled, compared to 20.1 percent in the population otherwise.

The difference is even greater in the age group of 62 to 67, 41 percent versus 29.4 percent.
