The city council makes it now more expensive to park in Oslo. In the center will the fee be increased by 50 percent.
The new rates apply to all public parking from the following Monday.
In the center and within Ring 1 and Bogstadsveien and Valkyriegata will the parking fees be increased with 50 percent. In the rest of the city, it will be increased with 20 percent.
– This is one of several initiatives we are introducing to reach the City Government aims to reduce car traffic in Oslo and get a pedestrianized center by 2019, says Lan Marie Nguyen Berg, commissioner for environment and transport in Oslo.
She hopes that the new rates will encourage more people to choose to leave the car, which according to Berg will also improve the air quality in Oslo.
