FSA (Mattilsynet) has found the antibiotic resistant for MRSA-bacteria in a pig herd in the Haugalandet on the west coast.
FSA has put ban on releasing animals into and out of the current farm in Haugalandet without special agreement, according to Nationen.
It is not dangerous for humans eating meat from this type of infected pigs but the pig held will be held isolated before they become slaughtered in the ordinary manner.
– After the animals are sent to slaughter, farmer must conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of the premises where they stayed, to ensure that they get rid of MRSA bacteria, said section manager Jarl Inge Alne from FSA.
It was Veterinary institute that found infection during analyzes of samples from the Food Safety Authority’s monitoring and mapping program.
