The Finnish telecommunications company Nokia has dismissed 1032 employees in Finland, after negotiations with the unions.

Initially, the company had planned to terminate 1,300 of its 6,700 employees in Finland.
Most of the job cuts are planned to be done during the summer, as part of a cost cutting program in connection with the acquisition of the technology company Alcatel-Lucent.

Nokia was once the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, but was pushed out by competitors Apple and Samsung. Today the company operates mainly with other telecom business, after Microsoft bought the company’s mobile business in 2014.

Earlier in the week, it became clear that a newly established Finnish company will produce mobile phones and tablets under the Nokia brand from now on.
