Norwegians bought to the tune of 3 billion during the trading day,Black Friday.

Several places around the country opened stores extra early on Friday morning.

‘We will not get the final figures until the weekend, but by Friday afternoon there were indications that the numbers suggest trading corresponded to the same day last year’, said Press Officer Stein-Arne Tjore Nets to the news agency, NTB.

Nets said figures include payments to merchants and providers. The figures include all card use in Norway, with the exception of withdrawals from ATMs.

He added that Norwegians probably ended up spending around 3.1 billion,  spread over 7.6 million card transactions.

‘This means that bank cards were used on average, 200 times every second, said Nets to Aftenposten.

He told NTB that despite high consumption on ‘Black Friday’ in November,
Norwegians still shop most during the days just prior to Christmas.
