OBOS dwellings in Oslo were 11.5 percent more expensive in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
In March alone, the prices rose by 2.5 percent, resulting in an average square meter price of 54.689 kroner last month, according to OBOS.
For Norway in general, the average price per square meter of used OBOS-affiliated housing was 48.632 kroner in March – 2 percent more than in February and 9.7 percent more than in March last year.
– With this increase in prices, it is clear that the government has to speed up housing construction. The demand for houses and apartments is much greater than the supply, especially in Oslo. Now the new governing parties in Oslo have to show that they were serious about their promises from the election campaign to speed up housing construction. OBOS has over 2,000 houses and apartments that we are ready to start building if we can just get an approved stamp from the city council, CEO Daniel Kjorberg Siraj in OBOS says.
Over the past year, the prices in Oslo have increased by 11.9 percent.
