In January Ryanair received a go-ahead to fly to and from Gardermoen. Now the Irish airline has declined.

This means there will be no route opening for Ryanair to and from Gardermoen at this stage, says communications manager Joachim Westh

Andersen at Oslo Airport to the newspaper VG.

The budget airline applied  earlier this year for so-called slots on four daily routes. The company was granted three daily departures to London and a round trip between Vilnius in Lithuania and Oslo and had to decide by January 31 whether they would make use of the authorization, according to  the newspaper Aftenposten.

When the government before Christmas announced that they will introduce an aircraft seat fee of 80 kroner, Ryanair decided to renounce the base agreement they have with the airport at Rygge in Ostfold. This means that the airport may be closed.

Aircraft seat fee is planned to be introduced in Norway from 1 April. The deadline to provide input to the government is February the 21.
