In 2019, more than 718 million public transport journeys were registered in Norway, up 5.3 percent from the previous year, Statistics Norway reports.
This is equivalent to 35.9 million more trips in 2019, according to Statistics Norway.
Bus travel accounted for the most growth in the number of passengers, with 30.3 million more trips than the previous year. More than 60 percent of public transport in 2019 was by bus.
Overall, the number of passengers for all types of public transport increased.
Nearly 46 percent of all public journeys in Norway in 2019 were made in urban areas, of which Stavanger had the largest percentage growth with 18.5 percent, followed by Haugesund with 17.7 percent.
